Don’t you wish you’re running your own business where you could manage your own time? Have a vacation whenever you want to? Stay in the house if you don’t feel like working?

Well, I do! That’s what I’ve been dreaming of ever since I graduated College. I’ve been working in a BPO company for 6 years and 3 months now. And damn! I’m tired of getting up because I need to go to work! I hate it specially during holidays! I need to come to work while everyone is at home! What’s more irritating is when someone asks, “Do you have work?” Ggggrrrr….

It’s just very timely that my boss sent an ebook entitled Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki and I was struck most by this paragraph:

” The pattern of get up, go to work, pay bills, get up, go to work, pay bills… Their lives are then run forever by two emotions, fear and greed. Offer them more money, and they continue the cycle by also increasing their spending. This is what I call the Rat Race”

This is very much like me. When I started to work, I only earn Php 10k/month and I still have the money to buy my groceries. But after several salary increases, I rarely have cash for it. I also want to get out of the “rat race”. I don’t want to be a corporate slave forever!

Today is Quezon City day. It’s a holiday for schools and offices within Quezon City in celebration of our former president’s birthday, Manuel L. Quezon. But it’s not a holiday for me because I need to go to work. I work in a BPO company so “holiday” is not in their dictionary.

Just to give you an overview of Manuel L. Quezon’s profile,

  • Full Name: Manuel Luis Quezon y Molina
  • Born: August 19, 1878 in Baler, Aurora, Philippines
  • First Filipino president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines under U.S. occupation rule in the early period of the 20th century.
  • He is also considered by most Filipinos, as the second President, after Emilio Aguinaldo (whose administration did not receive international recognition at the time and is not considered the first Philippine president by the United States).
  • He has the distinction of being the first Senate President elected to the presidency.
  • The first president elected through a national election.
  • First incumbent to secure re-election (for a partial second term, later extended, due to amendments to the 1935 Constitution).
  • He is known as the “Father of the National Language”.

Since we bought the Brainy Baby book, she can already point for the giraffe, zebra, tiger, and snake. I think she can recognize those animals from her Lion King book since that’s her first. :) My hubby and I are trying to familiarize her with the pictures until she master all of them. :)

Nicole started to crawl backwards when she turned 6.5 months. But this week, she finally mastered how to crawl forward!!! hahaha… Thanks to our MAC! This is indeed another milestone for her!  :)

This video was taken this morning when she was aiming for MAC! :)

My baby loves to read… or rather loves to look at her books. She started to be interested in books as early as 4 months. She has a total of 3 books (Lion King, Beauty & the Beast and The Little Mermaid. Now, two of her books looks like scrap because she loves tearing the pages!. :) LOL Since she’s on the tearing stage, we decided to buy her board books instead. We went to Toy Kingdom and bought this for Php 274.

The Brainy Baby Board Books is a best buy! It contains 4 board books which features animals, 123s, ABCs, shapes and colors. What’s great about this pack is it shows real/actual pictures of animals and things. Not the traditional cartoon drawing. Haha! Let’s see if she can still tear this! :)

Since I can’t find any sharksfin recipe on the web, I combined the ingredients of other dimsum recipes. And here’s what I came up.

    • ground pork
    • sliced flower shitake mushrooms
    • shrimps cut in half
    • shreded turnip
    • shreded carrots
    • 1 egg
    • minced onion
    • minced garlic
    • oyster sauce
    • sesame oil
    • dumpling wrapper

Sorry I can’t indicate the quantity and amount of ingredient that I put because I didn’t measure them. If it smells good, it will taste good! :) hehehe…

    Procedure:

    • Mix everything in a bowl.
    • Put a teaspoon full of mixture
    • Wrap it with a dumpling wrapper.
    • Steam for 20-30mins.

I LOVE to eat but I’m a frustrated chef! I’m fond of watching Curtis Stone and Nigella Lawson in Travel & Living because I just love the way they preapre food. It seems so easy and yummy! I actually want to take formal lessons and become a chef! :) hehehe…

Lately, I was inspired by some of my officemates to do some cooking! So I decided to make sharksfin because my hubby & I are craving for this since last week. I began looking for sharksfin recipes on the net but I didn’t find one. I don’t know why. So I just used the ingredients of different dimsum recipes and completed them yesterday. This is actually my first time to cook this dish so I was worried I might fail. I prepared the mixture last night and continued this morning. Thank God, Nicole was cooperative today, I was able to finish on time. I took around 10 pieces of sharksfin for our lunch and brought it in the office. My hubby says it’s not that bad for a first timer! I don’t know if he’s really telling me the truth or he’s just hungry! :( But I would have to agree with him! Considering I didn’t measure the amount of ingredients that I put in the mixture. I just based the taste from it’s smell. :)

Taking off from my pevious post about our MAC’s new look, we returned it today and have it checked with GMASK. The lady informed us that my problem is just normal and said that it will flatten after 2-3 weeks! But when I questioned her howcome that is the only part bulging? She immediately took our MAC and checked if she could have it remedied. She took a cutter and prick a hole so the air would come out. Then, viola!

    2-3 weeks huh? If only I knew…

Did you go through training your baby with sippy cups?

Mine didn’t… She received a sippy cup as a gift but we noticed that she’s more comfortable drinking with a standard glass. So my MIL took out a shot glass and she liked it! :) We started doing this since her 5th month.

I noticed that there’s a sound when Nicole drinks from her glass.  So I checked her lower gums and I found out that Nicole’s two lower teeth erupted! I don’t know when did this start but I just noticed it today. Sorry, I can’t post pics of her teeth because you won’t notice it until you feel them for yourself…  :) Maybe this is the reason why she’s so cranky the past few weeks. She loves to put her pointer finger in her mouth and screams in the middle of the night! Now, if she starts to put her finger again in her mouth, I breastfeed her first to check if she’s hungry but if not, I give her chilled teether. That always works! Based from what I’ve read, it soothes their gums. She also finds corn soothing… hehehehe!!! :)
